Microdermabrasion & Sonophoresis

The latest technology in Microdermabrasion is here! We use clinical-grade Microplus+ followed by Sonophoresis, to deliver healthy, radiant-looking skin.

ASAP’s all-new Microplus+ is set to revolutionise the skin industry. This state-of-the-art equipment brings together the universally recognised benefits of Microdermabrasion with Sonophoresis. Microdermabrasion perfectly prepares the skin’s surface for the enhanced infusion of treatment products during Sonophoresis.

Microplus+ Microdermabrasion can be an effective treatment for:

– Fine lines and wrinkles
– Acne, blackheads and congestion
– Pigmentation
– Minor scar revisions
– Rejuvenation of dull, tired skin
– Open Pores
– Age-revealing hands and feet

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment requiring no downtime. It combines diamond technology, to exfoliate, polish and increase lymphatic drainage of skin, with a gentle vacuuming system, to unblock and clean the pores. This gentle procedure successfully removes dead skin cells to reveal younger, fresher-looking skin.

How does microdermabrasion help in skin rejuvenation?

Poor health, diet, ageing, stress, and the elements of nature can hinder the skin’s cell-renewal process dramatically. Microdermabrasion accelerates the cellular-turnover process, bringing you closer to healthier, younger-looking skin. It allows for the gradual resurfacing of skin without the risks, side-effects, and downtime of more aggressive alternatives.

In as little as 30-45 minutes, this gentle abrasion technique efficiently produces satisfying, positive results. Improvements in appearance and texture occur with successive treatments. Microdermabrasion can be used aggressively to achieve dramatic results but does not take the place of surgical or laser treatments.

We normally ask you to prepare your skin for 2-4 weeks prior to your treatment. Pre-treatment strengthens the skin and prepares it for the best possible treatment results, and also develops the basis of your ongoing skin care routines. After all, once you have improved your skin, you will want to maintain it for as long as possible.

How many treatments are needed?

To achieve maximum results, several treatments are recommended, typically scheduled 1-3 weeks apart. You will experience a progressive improvement throughout your treatment program. Schedule a consultation to determine the appropriate number of treatments for your optimum effects and goals.

How does your skin look immediately after treatment?

Microdermabrasion leaves your skin feeling soft. You will notice a healthier glow to your complexion. Due to the increase in circulation, a mild, temporary blush surrounding the treated area may be the only evidence of your therapy.

What is Sonophoresis?

Sonophoresis is a safe, non-invasive treatment that uses ultrasonic (soundwave) technology, warmth, and motion energy, and has been clinically proven to significantly increase the depth and rate at which treatment products are absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin. Your skin will feel smoother and cleaner after just one treatment.

Of all of the methods used in the delivery of active ingredients into the skin, Sonophoresis has much to offer to the contemporary skin treatment therapist.

The technology of using sound or “sonic” waves as a form of treatment has been around for a number of years. However, this technology has been largely used in the area of therapeutic treatment of deeper tissues by physiotherapists.

The use of Sonophoresis in skin treatment therapy provides enhanced permeability of products into the skin.

This “permeabilisation” of the skin allows a far higher absorption of the active ingredients the therapist is attempting to infuse. The results are both a more economical use of the therapeutic agents applied, and a greater response to the agent, due to better penetration.

How does Sonophoresis work?

To understand how Sonophoresis works, we must first understand the mechanics of the lipid/water bi-layers in the stratum corneum. They act as one of the principal barrier defences to protect the lower layers of the dermis. It is here that many of the substances with high molecular weights are repelled.

This is due to the microscopic gaps between the lipid heads of the bi-layers being too small to allow them through.

Unfortunately, many of the active ingredients used in skin treatment therapy are complex molecular formulations, and fail to fully pass through this protective layer, due to the alternating layers of lipid & water performing their functions correctly.

Sonophoresis acts by temporarily reducing the density of lipids in the intercellular domain of the bi-layers. This “disruption” occurs due to a combination of micromechanical, thermal, and cavitation effects, that effectively “open up” the intracellular pathways, allowing substances with high molecular weights a higher degree of penetration. These “openings” are known as Lacunae.
