What is Dermal Filler?
Dermal Fillers are made to enhance your facial features and contours with natural looking and feeling results.
It’s an injectable carbohydrate or sugar gel with powerful hydration. The filler is injected into the dermis of the skin to encourage support, lift sagginess, soften facial folds and lines, enhance lips, soften lip lines, reduce hollows, and one of the most effective ways to lift and regain shape to your face that is non-surgical.
What is it made of?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a carbohydrate that naturally occurs in the skin, however as we age this will slowly decline. Injectable dermal fillers used at Clinic Eleven are clear gels made from Hyaluronic acid.
Who is using it?
Anyone who requires assistance with the following:
- Lip enhancement
- Smoothing and contouring
- Softening of smile lines
- Nasolabial folds
- Wrinkles at the corners of the mouth
- Some types of acne scarring
- Facial defects and recessions
- To restore volume around the cheeks
- Restoration of volume in the hands, neck, upper arms, and buttocks
Why use Dermal Filler?
Using dermal filler in key points of the face can help to restore volume and make you look more refreshed.
How long does it last?
Results are seen immediately and you should be able to resume normal activities immediately after your treatment. Depending on the volume, placement and product used results can last for up to a year.
What happens during my treatment?
This is a non-surgical procedure and only trained medical professionals should administer it. Some client’s experience a slight discomfort at the time of injecting depending on placement but this only lasts for a few minutes. Some products contain an in-built anaesthetic to increase patient comfort.
How many treatments will I need?
This varies depending on the patient, the area being treated, and the desired result.
Prior to Cosmetic Skin Treatments such as Botulinum Toxin, Dermal Fillers and Micro-Needling, it is essential that a full Cosmetic consultation occurs so that a treatment plan is generated specific to your needs.
Radiesse®
Radiesse® dermal filler is made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel, and is injected into the skin through a simple and minimally invasive procedure. Radiesse® dermal filler is the ideal choice for total facial contouring, restoring a healthy, youthful appearance and enhancing your existing features. Defy age and gravity, and increase your confidence – all without invasive surgery or scarring.
What areas can be treated with Radiesse®?
Typical Radiesse® injections include: smoothing and contouring smile lines or nasolabial folds, wrinkles at the corner of the mouth, acne scars of certain types, facial defects or recessions, restoring volume in and around the cheeks, back of the hands, neck, upper arms, buttocks and modest enhancement or correction of asymmetrical features. It has also been used for non-surgical nose re-shaping, chin augmentation and liquid face lifts.
How long does Radiesse last?
Radiesse® dermal filler benefits can be evident for 6-24 months, depending on area treated, amount of product used, severity of the cosmetic problems, technique used for filler implantation, and the patient’s genetic predispositions. Only examination of every particular case by an experienced appearance medicine professional can establish approximate duration of expected results.
Does the treatment hurt?
A mild, localised anaesthetic is normally used to minimise or usually eliminate the pain associated with this type of treatment. The numbing effects will wear off anywhere from 15 minutes to as long as a couple of hours, depending on the anaesthetic used. There is no pain reported afterwards.
What can I expect after my treatment?
Patients are up and around immediately after receiving their Radiesse® treatments. You can expect greatly improved wrinkles, enhanced lips or smoothed-out depressed scars. The treatment site may have a little swelling, which may last 24 to 36 hours, depending on the area treated. There may be some slight bruising at the injection site.
How many treatments will I need?
This may vary depending on the patient, the area treated, and the desired result. Results with Radiesse® are immediate, so you can determine at first glance if you are happy with the results or if you would like more Radiesse®. Usually one to two treatments will be sufficient because Radiesse® is very slowly absorbed by your body and is long-lasting.
Teosyal®
Teosyal® is a full range of injectable dermal fillers made of non-animal origin and biodegradable hyaluronic acid. The Teosyal® range is designed to complement the varying stages of facial ageing to provide natural-looking results.
What does Teosyal® contain?
The main component of Teosyal® is Hyaluronic acid which is a natural skin component. It acts like a sponge and retains large quantities of water to keep the skin plumped and soft. In the fillers syringes, HA comes in the form of a gel.
How is Teosyal® administered?
First, your appearance medicine specialist disinfects the area to be treated. Then she uses a pre-filled sterile filler syringe and a fine needle (or a cannula). The depth of the injection depends on the type of hyaluronic acid gel and the desired results. A small amount of Teosyal® is then injected into or below the skin through a fine needle in order to fill out wrinkles, add volume and enhance the face or lips.
How long does treatment take?
A treatment with Teosyal® does not take long. Depending on the area and indication, it takes approximately 15-45 minutes. A touch-up treatment is sometimes performed approximately two weeks after the initial treatment to optimise the results.
Is the treatment painful?
In order to optimize your comfort during the injection sessions, Teoxane created the Teosyal® PureSense line with integrated anesthetic (lidocaine).
How long do the effects of treatment last?
As Teosyal® is a non-permanent filler, the effect gradually diminishes with time as the gel is degraded. In order to maintain the aesthetic result, top-up treatments are recommended. In the case of wrinkle treatments, these are generally performed after 6 to 18 months and for lip treatments within 6-9 months.
Can everyone have a Teosyal® treatment?
Ask your appearance medicine professional if you will benefit from treatment with Teosyal®.
Clinical evidence on efficacy and safety of Teosyal®
Teoxane Laboratories were founded 13 years ago, their fundamental principle has been to satisfy a very demanding market by creating innovative products of the highest quality with the highest safety standards. Teoxane Laboratories have developed a cutting-edge innovation: the extraordinary Teosyal® RHA, is a resilient HA gel line which sets new standards in fillers. Its dynamic network was specifically developed by their R&D department to adapt to the movements and dynamism of the face. After a 9-month follow-up in a prospective clinical study, they have released the four resilient gels for clinicians around the world and the benefit of their patients.
Can the Teosyal® be combined with other products?
Each filler in the Teosyal® range is calibrated to match a particular treatment indication. Assuming treatment is required for different areas of the face, there is no reason why two or more fillers cannot be used, however, Teosyal® should not be injected into an area where an implant other than hyaluronic acid has been placed.
Belotero®
Belotero® dermal filler is an injectable filler that quickly integrates into your skin. Once injected, it instantly smoothes the lines and wrinkles in your face.
The difference between Belotero® and other fillers
While Belotero® dermal filler is made of the same material (hyaluronic acid) as some other dermal fillers, Belotero® dermal filler has unique properties that allow it to adapt within the skin for soft and even correction. The versatility of the product makes it strong enough to handle deep treatment areas such as nasolabial folds (smile lines around the mouth), yet soft enough to treat more delicate areas such as vertical lip lines (thin lines that appear above the lip line).
How does it work?
Belotero® dermal filler is made of a material called hyaluronic acid or HA. HA naturally exists as a component of your skin. Because it binds to water, it plumps and fills in wrinkles and folds, allowing immediate and smooth correction.
How soon can I expect results?
Instantly!
How long does it last?
Individual results may vary, but Belotero® dermal filler may last from about 6 months to up to 2 years.
Does it hurt?
As with all needle injections, there can be some pain associated with the procedure. Clinic Eleven use local or topical anaesthetics such as lidocaine or numbing gels to help minimise discomfort.
What is it made of?
Belotero® dermal filler is made of a substance called hyaluronic acid or HA. A natural component in the skin, HA has the ability to bind to water, making it an ideal dermal filler, as it binds with the skin’s own water to plump wrinkles and folds.
How is the treatment performed?
Belotero® dermal filler is injected into the skin in a simple, quick procedure using a super fine needle – it can be done over your lunch hour.
Is it safe?
Belotero® dermal filler is approved in New Zealand and Australia, and has undergone testing in clinical studies to prove its safety.
Are there any side effects?
Just as with any injection, you may experience mild irritation, swelling, itching, redness, bruising or tenderness at the injection site. These side effects typically resolve on their own. If any of these side effects persist, call your healthcare professional immediately.
How long is the recovery time?
There is very little to no downtime associated with a Belotero® dermal filler procedure. In fact, most patients return to their normal daily activities right after their visit. Every patient is unique so be sure to discuss your plans with your appearance medicine professional during your consultation.
