PRP is short for Platelet Rich Plasma. It has been hailed as a rejuvenating treatment ever since it was made famous by Kim Kardashian’s “Vampire-Face” rejuvenation pictures. Lately it gained a lot more traction with men to treat Erectile Dysfunction.

About 4ml of the patients own blood is taken, spun through a centrifuge to separate the Platelet Rich Plasma. This is injected with a very fine needle into four spots at the top, and four spots at the bottom of the penis, just underneath the skin.

Since the patient’s own blood is used there are no side-effects to be expected or reported

A local anaesthetic can be used, however it is seldom needed as there is little to no discomfort during the procedure. In this case no anaesthetic was used.
Dr Brent Krivan of Clinic Eleven Appearance and Skin Cancer Medicine in Paraparaumu, New Zealand, demonstrates on a 52-year-old male patient the procedure. The patient came in for a repeat treatment after 12 months. He was very happy with the previous results reporting consistently hard, long-lasting erections – much to his wife’s delight. This is his “refresher” treatment after 12 months. Patient reported no pain, discomfort during the procedure, nor any pain or bruising afterwards.
